Kingfisher Lodge - Guest Comments
We had a great holiday at Kingfisher. We had a wonderful time. We found the lodge really comfortable and cosy. It also contained everything that we needed. We found the field great for dog walks and the Haybarn in was also great for an evening drink. We have already recommended the cabin to family who wish to stay next year. We will be in touch. All in all a good time. - August 2010
We've had a brill time. Lodge was very comfortable and homely..... Scenery absolutely breathtaking. Weather was great on Sunday. We enjoyed a glass of wine or two sitting on the verandah. Hoping to be back soon - August 2010
The cabin is lovely - a perfect place to stay. we have had a wonderful time. This is a great place to unwind and relax. The boat trip on Derwent Water is a must!! Great walk too. We recommend the Waters Edge Inn in Ambleside for dinner. Amazing food. A lovely bar area to sit with your pooch. We walked up to Orrest Head near Windermere. Fabulous views of Lake Windermere and surrounding fells and don't need to be an intrepid explorer to get up there. Overall a fabulous break. Our greyhound absolutely loved it here. We shall definitely return.. Thank you so much for a lovely stay - June 2010

What a lovely place for a relaxing break. Cosy Cabin, beautiful views and dog friendly pubs. The weather was quite cold but sunny. Walked every day. Lottie the dachshund's little legs are even shorter. Hope to come back later in the year - May 2010

Had a lovely time - relaxing long weekend in the perfect setting. Buz loved the dog field to have a run although it didn't tire him out! Cabin is set up for all weathers - warm and cosy + fab views. Will def return again! - May 2010
We spent our days walking here, there and everywhere. With tired legs we arrived back at your cosy cabin and we all snuggled up listening to the birds outside and the trickling stream. the cabin was fab, offering everything we could need! It's our dog's first holiday and he has had a fab time. None of us want to leave this great place. Thanks for everything. - April 2010
We have had a lovely stay here in your cabin. we have enjoyed the beautiful surrounding areas and have taken advantage of the leisure facilities. Thanks for a lovely break - April 2010
Had a great stay in the cabin. We were lucky enough to have great weather all week. Our seven month old baby boy had his first shot on the swings in the park and loved it. Our little dog Alfie got over his fear of water at the splash pool. The Lake District is a beautiful place with lots to see and do. We enjoyed sitting on the balcony at night watching the horses with a glass of wine... or two. Thanks again - April 2010
Had a fantastic time - the log cabin was fantastic. My little boy called it our "little wooden house". He was very impressed with the toys in his room and the rocket ships, stars and moons on the ceiling. We used the facilities at White Cross Bay and ate there also. We also ate at The Haybarn which was also very nice. We went into Bowness and hired a little boat on the lake and we went into Keswick. Thanks for such a great stay. We have had a fab time! See you soon - April 2010
We have had a lovely short break. The weather was fantastic. The lodge surpassed our expectations, home from home, relaxing and we really do not want to leave. When we arrived we met John in the dog field with his dog where our pugs Poppy and Stan met Suki. We went to Ambleside where the dogs played in the water and we had a lovely drink in the beautiful garden at the nearby pub. We ate in The Haybarn. My dogs were in heaven. Chilling under the table with a large bowl of water and a few treats. The food was fantastic and very reasonable. We were made very welcome and the staff were lovely. This was our first time in the Lakes but will not be the last. If you have small children you must visit the Beatrix Potter Attraction. Thank you very much. - April 2010
Thanks for a great break. Had fantastic weather and the lodge and park are amongst the best we have stayed in. Will hopefully be back next year. - April 2010
Kingfisher lodge is beautiful. We felt at home straight away, feeling relaxed and cosy in the comfiest sofas and beds in the world. The Haybarn is unbelievably accommodating to dogs and beautifully furnished. Jasper the Labradinger loved the dog field, especially running through the puddles and splashing around. We loved the fact that after a day of sightseeing and walking we could sit back, relax and have a game of Balderdash. See you next year - April 2010
Cabin was great for the dog, loved being in with us and was also very happy that he could go for a swim every morning, great location for a getaway. As for the weather we had sun, rain hail and snow! Slightly different from what we were expecting. Some great walks in the area although advised to do plenty of research! Local pubs were excellent, very nice food and some selection for vegetarians. Also dog friendly! The Kirkstone Inn being the best and also not as expensive, Looking to book for the Summer. Thanks. - April 2010
Had a great time, fantastic walks, good food, relaxing and welcoming lodge. Shame we have to leave but we will return. - March 2010
Wonderful, wonderful time! Lodge is fabulous, home from home with everything you need. Would strap it to car with the stream and take it back to Dorset!! Only one day of slight rain and then we were on a steam train so it didn't matter. Went on Ullswater and Windermere steamers, fantastic views. With Round Lakes pass 50% discount for Ravenglass and Eskdale steam railway, a beautiful 14 mile round trip. Then Coniston Lake and Donald Campbell's grave. (Rain stopped by then!) Off to Hawkshead and Tarn Hows (breathtaking) The evening in the Hay Barn Inn, thoroughly recommend. Great food and service. Very reasonable too! Last day (boo hoo!) Breakfast on the balcony, off to Kendal ( mint cake of course) then Ambleside and the Stock Ghyll force waterfall. Loved it. Dinner on the balcony tonight ( still no rain). Loads of info in lodge. Recommend Lakes and Cumbria Today book. Watching the horses in the field with a glass of wine and listening to the stream at mo. The Lake District is a beautiful place. Limefitt Park is wonderful couldn't have asked for more, and Kingfisher Lodge is perfect, whether you are a couple or family and must be a dog's idea of heaven. Phone and Internet reception great too. We have loved it and will be back and recommend. Thanks John and Linda - all info we needed was available in the lodge. Why stay anywhere else? " - March 2010
"Thoroughly enjoyed our short break in a very relaxing and homely lodge. We ate at the Hay Barn inn on-site and also the Mortal Man and would recommend both for excellent meals and friendly service. Our dog, Jake, was made very welcome at both(three-year-old black labrador) We look forward to visiting again. Many thanks." - March 2010
"I agree with all the previous comments, and plastic place!!" Doggy heaven". Barney and Lucy loved all the walks and wildlife. Hay Barn pub on-site excellent, dog friendly, lovely decor, were made to feel at home, food lovely. Well worth a walk to two pubs uphill - Queens Head and Mortal Man. Really happy with accommodation - got everything you need. Will definitely be coming back. We will recommend to friends. Thanks very much!" - March 2010
"We have a lovely short break, the weather held out and even some sunshine. We visited with a five-month-old who settled in straight away and was exhausted by the end of every day. Went to White Cross to use the swimming facilities. It was spotless and can highly recommend them even with a baby! Will definitely be coming back again, hopefully with friends in tow. Many Thanks." - March 2010
"What a great site and place for a holiday! So very relaxing, could stay all Summer! Can recommend The Hay Barn inn on site for food. Small menu but amazing value for money!! Recommended over The Mortal Man. Loving the friendly ducks and sheep (yes sheep!). Fantastic weather, sunny every day!! Walks in back of green folder are the best. Fantastic views on some. Lodge is very well equipped, don't want for anything while here. If walking back from The Mortal Man or the Queens Head at this time of year (i.e. when dark at 9 p.m.) take a torch! All in all we had a lovely time. We will definitely recommend to friends and we hope to be back soon! Thanks very much." - March 2010
"We have had a lovely holiday weather has been great considering the time of year. Facilities have been excellent and we have thoroughly enjoyed our holiday! Our border collie (Charlie) has had a fantastic time to. Can't believe how pet friendly this site and lodge have been. We will definitely be recommending this holiday to our friends. Looking forward to coming back." - March 2010

"Had a great time. Lodge lovely and well equipped. Went on some lovely walks Saturday but Sunday weather bad. Cassie (the dog) wouldn't put her nose outside the door - So I opened the French doors, reclined the chair, cup of tea and a book, listened to the river run by and took in the scenery - Ah Bliss!" - November 2009
"Had a lovely time this week with the autumn colours at their peak. Quite mild temperatures for this time of year and very little rain. Perfect!" - October 2009
"Really like this Kingfisher Lodge with all the comforts of home and the sound of the stream just outside. So relaxing. Definitely thinking about getting a reclining sofa when we get home! Many thanks for the memories." - October 2009
"Finally found the holiday base that is perfect (not easy with two teenage boys!). Weather has been diabolical and yet loved every moment of it! (Always rains in when we visit the Lakes!) The lodge is absolutely lovely, as is the site. " Gromit", the dog, loved wandering round the decking area. So peaceful here. Everything here that we needed. Loved the selection of books and films. We know the area well as we only live an hour's drive away, but it's so relaxing to find a place to stay that feels so "right". Only wish could stay longer. A lovely escape from a hectic life. Hopefully will return soon and would certainly recommend to friends." - October 2009
"Fabulous location. So relaxing with the river outside the cabin. The first walk we did was to the fantastic Queens Head pub. Quite a challenge if you aren't expecting it. Their food is amazing and we love the quaint tradition of putting coins where every nook and cranny allows you to do so. Was very welcoming for Belle (little terrier), whose holiday it was, for of course she settled really quickly, but she isn't used to so many sheep being a "townie". The cabin is so comfortable and homely. Love the decking area listening to the river. Would love to come again. Thank you. - October 2009"
"A fabulous week here at Kingfisher Lodge weather has been kind to us, apart from one day. Been very relaxing. Done some fabulous walks and Jess and Cassie (dogs) have really enjoyed it too. We had a visit to the local vets in Windermere where we had to take Cassie on Sunday. Have to say we were really impressed. We hope to be back here next year but perhaps we can stay a bit longer next time." - October 2009
"The weather passable. The accommodation great. The Lakes wonderful. The scenery awe-inspiring. The holiday magnificent. "We don't want to go back home either. It's the ongoing thread in this book. Great lodge, great location and for us great weather. Could not ask for more, and yes, we also will be back next year. Our dog's already looking forward to it." - September 2009
"Thanks for a great time. The lodge is fantastic. Everything we needed was here. The dog love it. Thanks very much" - September 2009
"We really, really do not want to leave! This has been one of the best short breaks we have been on so far. The cabin is so comfortable, peaceful and has everything you could possibly need. The walks are great (even if the rain never eased up!) and the whole experience has us wishing to come back. Our dog Penny looks so miserable as we are packing away. I may have to make her feel better by cooking her a chicken! The break was worth every penny (as in money not our dog). We will be back. Thank you for everything" - August 2009
"Beautiful comfortable lodge - everything provided. Wonderful local food - an ideal spot to escape the world. Thanks for a wonderfully relaxing two weeks (Can you arrange drier weather next time? :-))" - August 2009

"Well it's time to leave and we really, rally want to stay! The last 3 days have been fabulous... We've been blessed with good weather and your lodge is beautiful (especially the "marshmallow" beds - perfect after a days hiking!). Saturday morning we went to Wansfell Pike and the views from the top were simply stunning, so we've taken lots of photos for keepsakes. We've enjoyed every minute from bbq's to Pimms on the terrace, boat trips and badminton to reclining on your comfy sofa with a nice cup of tea and a blanket! We only wish we were here for a week! Without doubt we'll be back.. thank you again for everything" - July 2009
"We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and were very comfortable. Beautiful, peaceful location. We had some lovely walks with our dog, Rusky, and thought the cabins were ideally situates to explore the local area. Althugh the weather forecast was daunting we still managed to dodge the rain and have two BBQs. " - July 2009

"The river, the ducks and the heron fly pasts plus very nice weather. Don't want to go home yet, neither does Wolfy. Very tempted to put the sofa on the roof of the car. The surrounding area is stunning and we enjoyed the local walks and in particular the dog field". Very comfortable and relaxing from start to finish. " - June 2009
"We fully agree with everything previously said about Kingfisher lodge and Limefitt Park. We've had a brilliant week. We've also enjoyed the antics of the ducks and jackdaws when we've thrown food for them. Our dog (border collie) found the verandah to be a good vantage point for keeping an eye on the sheep in the field opposite. When not "sheep watching", hill walking, eating and snoozing, she took us to the dog field for a run around whilst we admired the beautiful scenery. . This is a great place for dogs (and humans!). Lovely lodge, lovely park, lovely weather and spectacular scenery - Perfect. Happy holidays!" - June 2009
"We've had a wonderful time. Changeable weather but that didn't detract from our holiday. Kingfisher Lodge had everything we needed for a comfortable stay. The site is lovely. Well maintained, well laid out and a fabulous walk along the bridle path." - June 2009
"Really don't want to leave the lodge. We've had the best holiday here. A mini heatwave in a beautiful setting. Breakfast on the decking was lovely. We've been to the Lakes many times but usually stayed in Windermere Village. This time we've done a lot more. The lodge is a great base for exploring the lakes. Eveything is in the lodge that you need. A lovely lovely place. Thanks for a great holiday and would love to visit again.(I've had a great time too - Maggie the dog)" - June 2009
"Had a fabulous week in the lodge. The weather was fab. It was so relaxing and comfortable. You don't have to go off park - everything you need is at your door. Shop, park, pool etc. This was our first time away in the Lakes with our labrador Molly. She loved it and even learned to swim in the Lakes (riverpool). She'll probably sleep for a week when we get her home . Ha Ha. We are definitely going to book again for next year. Can't wait. Thank you so much for a lovely holiday. PS the lodge was also fab. Everything we needed was here especially the double bed. Thank you" - May 2009
